Missions

Calvin Church supports the regional, national and international mission work of the PCC.
Often in partnership with other denominations. We also support local community initiatives, such as the Food Bank.
We have a benevolence fund for special needs.
Calvin Church is supported by the generous free will offerings of its people; a public Annual Report, listing the congregation’s program and financial expenditures, is available to anyone who may request it.

MISSION CAPSULE

GUATEMALA

Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing . . . support Denise van Wissen, a Nutrition Coordinator working with the Fraternidad of Maya Presbyterials in Guatemala. She leads workshops on basic nutrition and healthy eating for women’s groups in the Quiché and Mam communities. Many Maya women, especially those in rural areas, do
not speak Spanish or understand it well and so Denise uses visual aids, skits, games and in some cases, translation to Mam or Quiché, to teach about nutrition. Her classes are practical and fun, with hands-on food
preparation. Denise has just finished her maternity leave. Let us pray for Denise as she makes the transition back into her work with the Fraternidad.

Nigeria

Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing . . . support Arlene Onuoha as she works with the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria. As Publications Officer with the Board of Faith and Order, Arlene is working on Bible study material, a Desk Diary, and various other publications. She also serves as secretary for the Presbyterian Urban Health Services Board of Governors.  The Board is working to build a comprehensive health care centre and several satellite centres in economically depressed areas of Aba.

Presbyterian Church in Canada ~ MISSION CAPSULE

Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing support Église St. Luc, a francophone ministry in Montreal.  Église St. Luc is working hard to be a vibrant
community where spiritual needs can be met. Its membership is made      up of people from many cultures including European, French

Canadian, African, Malagasy, Haitian and Cuban. The congregation        treasures its diversity and makes sure that every culture participates in the expression of worship. Three Sundays out of four, the worship    service is more traditional, and on the third Sunday of every month a   family worship service is held, with a contemporary and more relaxed    format. After the service, worshippers are invited into the church hall to share a potluck meal. This more casual context favours the      development of community and friendships. Let us pray for Église St.    Luc as it reaches out to francophone Presbyterians in Montreal.
